This is an office-based position.

Responsibilities

The Expert Financial Analyst leads advanced financial analysis and modelling initiatives, providing insights that support strategic business decisions. This role evaluates complex financial scenarios, including investment opportunities, mergers, and acquisitions, and assesses capital requirements and return on investment. This role identifies financial risks and recommends mitigation strategies, frequently presenting findings to senior management. The expert financial analyst mentors less experienced team members, ensures the quality of financial models and reports, and monitors industry and economic trends to forecast impacts on organizational performance.

Financial Analysis & Modelling:

  • Lead the development of complex financial models and sensitivity analyses.
  • Evaluate ROI, capital requirements, and profitability for large-scale initiatives.

Reporting & Variance Analysis:

  • Oversee preparation and review of financial statements and variance reports.
  • Provide detailed root-cause analysis of significant variances and trends.

Strategic & Business Planning Support:

  • Partner with business leaders to align financial planning with strategic goals.
  • Evaluate mergers, acquisitions, and investment opportunities.

Risk Assessment & Compliance:

  • Ensure financial practices align with external regulations and internal policies
  • Assess risk exposure in financial forecasts and develop proactive mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Present financial insights and recommendations to functional and/or senior leadership.
  • Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for cross-functional teams.

Industry & Market Monitoring:

  • Interpret market shifts and economic conditions to anticipate financial impact.
  • Benchmark performance against peers and industry standards.

Technical Competencies

  • Financial Modelling & Forecasting: Experience leading the development of complex financial models, including scenario and sensitivity analyses.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Experience interpreting and communicating advanced financial results; identifying trends and root causes.
  • Budgeting & Strategic Planning Support: Experience advising business units on strategic financial planning and evaluating investment cases with financial rigor.
  • Data Management & Tools: Advanced use of Excel and BI tools; experience creating dashboards and automating reporting processes.
  • Regulatory Knowledge & Compliance: Experience applying financial regulations and accounting standards to complex scenarios; experience ensuring financial reporting integrity.
  • Business & Industry Acumen: Deep understanding of business strategy and industry dynamics; experience anticipating financial implications of external changes.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or international equivalent).
  • Significant experience of progressive experience in financial analysis, modelling, or strategic finance.
  • Professional accounting certification desirable.
